What is Sea Layers?

A marine chart for planning offshore fishing in Australian waters. It puts sea temperature, currents, altimetry, chlorophyll, depth, wind, waves and marine park zones over the same water, so you can read them together and tap anywhere for the real value.

Can I use it for navigation?

No. Sea Layers is a planning tool. Use official charts, marine warnings and proper navigation equipment for piloting and safety decisions.

Which areas does Sea Layers cover?

Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania, divided into chart regions. Coverage can differ by layer and by source.

How do I prepare the chart for offline use?

Choose your regions, switch on the layers you want, then open Settings, then Offline readiness & downloads. The app lists what is stored, what is missing and the approximate download size.

Use the Nautical basemap offshore. The Streets basemap needs a network connection.

Why is part of a layer blank?

Blank water usually means the source did not measure that point. Cloud, satellite swath edges, radar footprints and model coastlines all leave real gaps. Sea Layers keeps those gaps visible instead of filling them with an invented value.

Why do two sources disagree?

They are often making different claims: an observation, an analysis, or a forecast from a particular model run. Sources stay separate so you can compare them rather than receive a hidden blend.

Does Sea Layers upload my fishing spots?

No. Your position, heading, waypoints, chart view and tap locations stay on your phone. Optional feature-usage analytics never include a position, and you can switch them off in Settings.

Read the privacy policy.

Where does the marine data come from?

NASA and NOAA, Copernicus Marine, ECMWF, IMOS, the Bureau of Meteorology, IMAS and NESP, and Australian marine authorities. The active source, its timing, resolution, warnings and required attribution are shown in the app.

Which devices does it run on?
